We took the opportunity of the past downtime to deploy the latest version of PubMan on our productive server. The Bugfix Release PubMan 6.3 includes some minor innovations, which we’d happily like to draw attention to.

Downtime on Friday, July 22nd
In consideration of the continuously growing amount of data within PubMan, we need to expand our storage devices.
That’s why the GWDG is going to install new hardware components on the upcoming Friday, July 22nd, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. (CET)
During the installation, PubMan has to be shut down and all services won’t be available for one hour maximum.
We apologize for any inconveniences.
The Return of Test-PubMan
After eons of sleep, our PubMan Test Server finally is back and fully operational again.
This environment is supposed to be a sandbox where all interested people are welcome to take a closer look at the system and to try their hands at the various features and functionalities of PubMan.
As we have deployed the latest software version (6.2.8), the test server of course can also be used for demonstration or training activities.

GWDG maintenance on Saturday, May 28th
The GWDG has just informed us, that because of maintenance operations on their local infrastructure, there is going to be a total interruption of the power supply on Saturday, May 28th.
Since the GWDG is hosting most of our servers, PubMan will be completely unavailable until all systems in Göttingen are back in service again.

Fortunately, we managed to implement the announced bugfix release for PubMan 6.2 just in time.
The version number thus has climbed up to 6.2.8.
Though the main purpose of this run was the elimination of a number of known bugs and problems, we also included some tiny improvements for our users:

Bugfix Release on Friday, April 1st
We are currently working on the final steps of a minor bugfix release following PubMan 6.2.
We are actually on schedule right now (!) and we plan to release the new version on the upcoming Friday, April 1st.
This means that there will be a short downtime of approximately one hour, starting at 3 p.m.
After the deployment of the new system, we will start a re-indexing procedure, because the release includes some improvements concerning the search.
The re-index is going to last about 24 hours. During this period, the search functionalities may not deliver correct results. All other PubMan features will be working unreservedly.

PubMan Maintenance Work at the Weekend
Because of unforseeable reasons we have to shut down PubMan for maintenance at the weekend.
We try to be up and running again as soon as possible. You’ll get informed as soon as the problems are fixed.

Maintenance operation switched to January 12th / 6-10 p.m.
The GWDG informed us, that the announced maintenance operation surprisingly had to be switched and is now going to take place this Wednesday evening ( January 12th) between 6 and 10 p.m. (CET).
We will try to set up the ‘read only’ system as announced, so you will be able to access as well as search or browse within your items, but it will not be possible to enter new data until the maintenance operation is finished.
We are sorry for the maintenance confusion. In this case we are dependent on the actions of GWDG.
